Morel Magic!

I have spent the last week and a half looking for, and trying to find time to look for those precious once a year treasures, Morel Mushrooms. Yesterday the man who mowes our yard came in to ask if I liked mushrooms. I said yes and then he look disappointed. Well he had found 5 morels in my flower garden! 3 of which were very large! between 6 and 7 inches. He was hoping we wouldn’t want them but I selfishly said “no way am I shareing these beauties”.
I didn’t feel to bad since he had already told me they had found lots of them this year. I had a very nice treat before bed last night and am looking forward to having the rest tonight! It is so much fun sharing this tradition each spring and to spend time with family roaming through the woods! If you like Morels I hope you have had at least one to savor this spring.

  2. TY for the lovely compliment on my post. Yes, the children of today need to learn there is such a thing as real commitments forever ... & a few other things to boot. Have a lovely day tomorrow. I sure enjoy visiting with you. TTFN ~ Marydon

  3. Eww... I live in Indiana where this mushroom hunting is all the rage. I don't get it and never will. They fry those things up in flower and butter.. ew... the smell alone.

    BUT....

I also know how happy it makes everyone to find the shrooms. ENjoy.... :)

Happy Mother's Day to you and those you celebrate with.

  5. Ooh these look so yummy! I can't wait to hear how you cooked them up. About five different recipes just popped into my head. Lucky you.

  6. Well Elizabeth, I'm not a cook and I didn't want to change the memory I have of the way my Mom did it so it's just simple flower, salt and pepper then fry them up crispy in butter and eat them! Nothing covering the natural good taste. I'm sure my foodie husband and daughter could have come up with great ways to fix them but I wouldn't let them try. Maybe if I get some more I'll let them experiment. lol. Thanks to all who posted, even though you don't "get it :)!"
    Blessings,
